Mediterranean Tour, Day 9: A Quick Stop in Rhodes, Greece

Hello fellow travelers! It is time for another blog from our Mediterranean escape, and today we woke up in Rhodes, Greece. We immediately noticed that the place had a vibe—kind of a Spanish flair, or maybe it's more Roman. Let’s just say it was European. Lol!

Our excursion today was for a Rhodian Pottery Workshop. It was about 45 minutes from the port and our guide shared Greek mythology in a comedic fashion during the ride. I took this time to take a quick nap, but Anthony was captivated by all of the Greek history.

Since we signed up for a “pottery workshop ", I thought  "Ah, today, I’ll get to have a real authentic pottery experience or at least capture Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze from the movie Ghost.

But nope, none of the attendees were able to make the pottery on their own. They had a master potter guide our hands into the creation desired. He didn’t speak English, but his expressive hand gestures would say, "Move your hand here, do this, or do that.” It was not exactly the Rhodian pottery experience we envisioned, but we made the best out of it.

The day got even more interesting when we were told that we wouldn’t be able to receive our pottery in the mail until May 2024! That’s almost 6 months away!! I'm pretty sure the pottery will be a big surprise when it arrives  for everyone, including me because I am sure I will have forgotten all about it by then.

A lot of the other guests enjoyed the experience. We met a lady at dinner who thought it was incredible. I think I had my expectations set way too high. Different strokes for different folks, right? On our next visit to Rhodes, maybe we'd enjoy exploring the town or relaxing on the ship.

We wrapped up the day with a fabulous lunch on the ship, enjoyed the scenic views at the back, and topped it off with a massage. Because why not?

If any of you seasoned Rhodes explorers have a hidden gem we missed, please let us know. We would love to give Rhodes a second chance.
